Extremely Important Question

Ok, so... my question of the day (week?) is this: should I do giveaways on a semi-regular basis? I actually already have the potential to do three more, and I'm trying to decide what to do. Because people (including me) like free stuff, but I also don't to be a blog that ONLY does giveaways. In large part because I have so many other random things to share. Such as...

- There's going to be a yoga class at my house tonight. I've only ever done yoga while watching a yoga video, never with live people. Will I get stuck in a weird position while surrounded by my friends? Only time will tell.

- I decided to write one post for every day in November, and then I quit after eleven days. Frankly, the only reason I made it that far is because I had pre-written most of my posts for my giveaways in October.

- I will be flying alone with a toddler next month. It's probably going to stressful, but I have a feeling it's going to make for some great stories.

-Lucas's new favorite toy is a paper towel tube that he pretends is a leaf blower. Come on guys - that's blogging gold.

- In a fit of frustration about my ongoing difficulties in finding good sippy cups, I recently sent an angry email to a sippy cup manufacturer. And then I immediately felt foolish and over-dramatic, and when someone from their customer service department called me, I was too embarrassed to call them back. Because who gets that riled up about sippy cups? Me, apparently.

- A partial list of celebrities I've met: Chad Kroger from Nickleback, assorted Pittsburgh Steelers, Greg Brady (I mean Barry Williams.)

Do you really want to miss out on this kind of randomness? I think not.
- For my birthday, I got new art/decorations for my library and a new camera. You might think that I immediately used my new camera to take pictures of my new art, but you'd be wrong.

So as you can see, if I spent all my time doing giveaways, you'd miss out on a lot of really amazing stuff. And I'd never do that to you. But I could always do a giveaway every now and again. What do you think? And if I did them every so often, how often should I do them? Your input is of vital importance to me. And Greg Brady.

  1. I think random giveaways from time to time would be great. I think that it is awesome that being the mom of a toddler you even have time to blog at all. :0)

And, that being said, what other time to get stuck in a yoga pose you can't get out of than when you are in a room full of friends? lol

  3. People ask me all the time how I have time to blog, bake, cook, OH and take care of the kid. It's called NO SLEEP. That and I write blogs and "schedule" them to post at 7am so people think I'm up! Nope, not at all...I'm usually in an infant induced coma trying to get my coffee maker to work.

I like Giveaways. Especially around the holidays. I get annoyed with blogs that are ALL Reviews, and that's it. I'm going to do one soon, but only because I want to use that Rafflecopter thing! Oh and Bug's favorite thing is the paper towels.

    1. Well you're more impressive than me! I rarely bake. :)
I don't like blogs that are all reviews, either. But I'm glad to hear people like them every now and then.

  4. I enjoy giveaways, but in moderation. I hate when my favorite blogs that used to have really good content just start feeling like a strip mall. Have fun at yoga!

    1. I agree wholeheartedly!! Giveaways are fun, but I don't feel like they necessarily make you want to read a blog regularly.

And I did not get stuck in any weird positions in yoga! Yay me!!!

  5. A good ratio to follow is 40% sponsored content to 60% original content. Figure out what that number is for you and follow it. I swear by my blogging calendar since it keeps me on track to keep that ratio going. I change the topics often, but at least I'm blogging regularly. Until a kid gets sick of course and then all hell breaks out and I don't turn on the computer.

  6. I do giveaways whenever I have a new issue of my magazine coming out so I would say do them but not too often. I want a new camera myself I have an old dslr and I am ready for an upgrade. Stopping over from SITS

  7. haha, I like this randomness! And I've never met anyone even remotely famous, so I consider your list fairly impressive! I very rarely do giveaways, but from the blog feedback I've heard--once a month is probably on average a good ratio for a blog that wants to have giveaways from time to time but not be known as "that giveaway blog".

  8. lucas with his "leaf blower" reminded me of spongebob. (i don't know if you were able to miss the whole spongebob craze, but i can probably make a spongebob reference for everything.)

and i like giveaways! (although i have never won one ever.) that whole 40-60 ratio sounded smart so i'd go with that.

  9. oh! i'm also jealous of your celebrity list. the closest i've ever gotten was when i was a contestant on it's academic! and i don't even remember the host's name (although he died recently) so i don't think it counts.
