So here's what's new with us...

I've abandoned a blog or two for no good reason. But this time, I actually have a legitimate reason for not posting much in the past couple of months. And since a picture is worth a thousand words (even though I'll still probably type a few thousand words on the subject anyway)...

Sometime around September 6, my little man is going to be a big brother! It's not so much that fact (or the adorable shirt, which I bought here, in case you were wondering) that has kept me from blogging. It's the morning (read: all day) sickness and exhaustion. But more on that another day. For today, I would just like to say: Danny and I are very excited (and maybe slightly nervous) to be welcoming a new member to our little family!

At two, Lucas isn't quite old enough to totally understand what's about to happen in his world, but he has decided that the baby in mommy's belly is a girl named "Baby Chippeh." We don't know yet if he's right about it being a girl, but I promise not to name my child Baby Chippeh. You're welcome, baby.

So... that's our news! What's going on in your world?

And since I couldn't pick just one picture...

  1. ahh congrats!!! i bet lucas is going to be an awesome big brother. and though i only internet-know you, from what i've read, i don;t think you should be nervous. you're a fantastic mom and will surely only get even more fantastic with every child.

  2. I choose the picture on the bottom right. Oh and what's wrong with the name Chippeh? I have several dear friends with that name. ~Ginny

  3. This is super bizarre and maybe a little creepy, but I was just wondering the other day, when/if you and Dan would be having another baby.

    Congratulations!

  4. Congrats! : ) I bet he is so excited to be a big brother.

We have found each other's blogs through Passionfruit. Do you have a Twitter? I was looking for it on here and didn't see it. But I might just be getting blind in my old age lol : )

I do - I'm @bejaneum. I haven't linked it on here because I don't tweet much yet. I should probably get on that!!

  5. Congratulations! I am so happy for you and Dan. I enjoy your blog. I have been babysitting Joshua Urbina for 16 months now and am always looking for interesting things for him to do. I would love to do simple crafts with him but he puts everything in his mouth. He is 19 months old now. Any ideas how to help him? Thanks, Lydia Wurz

  6. Thanks so much, Lydia!!

Off the top of my head, you could maybe try finger painting with him with edible (but not tasty) homemade finger paints like we did here - http://morenaps.blogspot.com/2013/06/fathers-day-finger-painting_16.html

Lucas also really loves to color, and one bite (or maybe two) of crayon was enough to convince him crayons weren't good for eating.

Lucas still likes to put things in his mouth, but he's finally getting better about it. Now he looks at me before he puts something in, and if I say "no, that's not food," he'll usually stop. Unless it's extra tempting. :) At that age they're still just so oral that it's hard to convince them not everything needs to go in there!

I'll keep thinking and get back to you! :)
